About us

We are a group of women in Yemen and the diaspora who believe in the power of ourstories – herstories to imagine new ways of coexisting. Upholding the importance of writing and studying women’s history for all ages, we are passionately committed to the mission of collecting, preserving, and promoting the rich heritage of Yemeni women, and concurrently, holding a space for these women to voice their unique experiences and knowledges. Recognizing that today’s events shape tomorrow’s history, our initial project focuses on creating a safe space for women to narrate and share their stories, and we fervently advocate for the deployment of art and literature as potent tools to drive change, facilitate healing, and construct knowledge. In light of transitional justice, reconciliation, and sustainable peace’s crucial role, we dedicate ourselves to the documentation of the present, thus underscoring the significance of women’s experiences and their transformative impacts. As we forge ahead, we manifest a future where every woman’s story is heard, thereby contributing to a more diverse and inclusive understanding of our shared history.
